A Unique Festival Infestation Happens: QCinema Collabs with Garapata
Cinephiles’ sought-after accessories just got elevated.
For its 11th edition, QCinema International Film Festival announces its collaboration with artist Dexter Fernandez. Creeping its way to cinemas and in every cinephiles’ movie-watching arsenal is this iconic street art Garapata.
“This exciting collaboration amplifies our continuing partnership where the QCinema experience is creatively infused with an artist’s distinctive brand,” says QCinema Festival Director Ed Lejano.
Special issue Garapata shirts and tote bags will also be released by the festival. The shirts will be sold for five hundred pesos and the tote bags for six hundred pesos. These will be available at the QCinema Festival booths located at the cinema lobbies during the festival duration.
Other merchandise will also be available for festival goers who can present five used QCinema tickets. These can be exchanged at the QCinema booths in the cinema lobbies.
QCinema is from November 17 to 26, 2023. The venues are Gateway Mall, UP Town Center, Robinsons Magnolia, Shangri-la Plaza, and Power Plant Mall. Detailed schedules are available at qcinema.ph.
Born out of a childhood experience with ticks or garapata in the local language, Fernandez’ dream is to infest different places with his art. This is his first partnership with a film industry player in the country.
According to Fernandez, “Garapata is a whimsical representation of social psycho-delic landscape that observes the intertwined experiences of human behavior influenced by the other with bizarre context in which it occurs. In other words; a socio-political mind-trip.”
