Festival Note
A few ordinary days in the life of a lonesome 7-year-old who grows up to be a middle-aged man still clueless about where to find happiness. Not many humans are around him, only plastics that suffocate his world. Then, he meets a guy who makes his heart beat. Microplastics is a wordless short film about a world beset by materialism, and where the pursuit of happiness remains a mystery.
Ilang karaniwang araw sa buhay ng isang malungkot na 7-taong-gulang na lumaki na isang middle-aged na lalaki na hindi pa rin alam kung saan hahanapin ang kaligayahan. Walang gaanong tao ang nakapaligid sa kanya; tanging mga plastik lang na sumisira sa kanyang mundo. Pero makikilala niya ang isang lalaki na nagpapatibok ng kanyang puso. Ang Microplastics ay isang wordless na maikling pelikula tungkol sa isang mundong nababalot ng materyalismo, at kung saan ang paghahangad ng kaligayahan ay isang misteryo.
Lino Balmes, a Bacoor-based storyteller and filmmaker, is a two-time Carlos Palanca awardee for screenwriting. He holds a Film degree from De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde and has received documentary film training from the American Film Showcase in Laos. Lino strives to craft skillful narratives with hidden layers in his storytelling, spanning across film, theater, and TV.
