Festival Note
Winner of the best director prize at Cannes. 1917. Edward (Gonçalo Waddington) is a civil servant for the British Empire stationed in Burma. He receives a telegram from his fiancee Molly (Crista Alfaiate), who he has not seen in years. She’s set to visit Rangoon, and plans to marry him there. Rather than rejoice at the reunion, Edward goes into a panic, and jumps on a train. Thus begins a chase across Asia, crossing borders in the pursuit of love. Deliberately artificial, Grand Tour presents a skewed, Orientalist depiction of an Asia overrun by the West and its concerns.
Nanalo ng best director prize sa Cannes. 1917.
