Festival Note
Winner of the Silver Bear Jury Prize at the 73rd Berlinale. Despite a nearby wildfire, writer Leon (Thomas Schubert) and his friend Felix (Langston Uibel) carry on with a trip to a seaside holiday home belonging to Felix’s family. Leon, suffering from having written a bad second novel, lashes out at everyone around him, including the house’s caretaker Nadja (Paula Beer) and her boyfriend Devid (Enno Trebs). But as the fire nears, and emotions get high, something else sparks in Leon. Petzold, as precise as ever in his writing, builds a snapshot of being young and troubled in a world that is literally on fire.
