DIRECTOR PROFILE:
Bea Mariano
Bea Mariano experiments with words, images, sound and video. She also transcribes and translates. At present she is attempting automatic and expressionistic approaches to art-making. Some of her filmic experiments include Dominion (2023), Wound Cities (2019), Ang Persistensiya ng Alaala (2018), Kasaysayan sa mga Pagitan (2016), and mistake, momentum, memory (2013).
She was one of the digital fellows of the Rautenstrauch-Joest Museum’s Leaky Archive project in 2022, engaging with the institution’s Philippine colonial photographs collection. Currently, she is working on dalumat, dalumhati, dignidad, an online journal of/about decoloniality. She received her BA in Art Studies from the University of the Philippines Diliman.
