Festival Note
Based on the 1987 Taichi Yamada novel Strangers. Screenwriter Adam (Andrew Scott) makes a connection with his neighbor Harry (Paul Mescal) in what appears to be a mostly empty London high rise. At the same time, Adam somehow reconnects with his long-deceased parents (Jamie Bell and Claire Foy), who seem to haunt his childhood home. A lightly devastating ghost story/romance, All of Us Strangers is an exhibition of Haigh’s precise touch as a filmmaker, building to emotional highs without having to raise the volume.
